PEAK Grantmaking

Agenda

Agenda
A detailed agenda that reflects the below text summary of PEAK2024 Seattle.

Program

Keynotes
Each day, we’ll host an inspiring keynote.

On Monday, Reimagining People-Centered Philanthropy features Edgar Villanueva and Vu Le exploring pathways to evolving the sector, how money can be used as a tool of love and restoration, and what the world would look like if philanthropy reimagined how it manifests its love of humanity.

On Tuesday, Reimagining Persistence features Walter & Elise Haas Fund’s Jamie Allison, Stupski Foundation’s Glen Galaich, Philanthropy Northwest’s Jill Nishi, and Native Americans in Philanthropy’s Erik Stegman—speaking about both the strategies and tactics grants professionals can use to lead from where they sit to guide their organizations in recalibrating their approach to and doubling down on racial equity.

On Wednesday, PEAK’s Satonya Fair, Conrad N. Hilton Foundation’s Allison Gister, Carnegie Corporation of New York’s Roland Kennedy, Jr., and Skillman Foundation’s Angelique Power will share how they have been working on themselves as individuals and taken control of their professional development and careers in order to lead their organizations’ transformations in Reimagining Leadership.

Breakouts
Across five breakout periods, we’ll host 54 sessions, each one supporting one of five learning tracks: Change Agent, Learning Lab, Transformative Funding Strategies, Harnessing Data and Technology, and Professional Growth and Wellness. Open fishbowls, workshops, world cafés, and spark talks will inspire curiosity and engage attendees in sharing insights and experiences.

Annual Membership Meeting
On Tuesday, don’t miss this important yearly opportunity to hear from our board and staff about PEAK’s progress over the past year, learn about the candidates for PEAK’s board of directors, and celebrate all we have accomplished together in the last year.

Chapter and Peer Group Meetings
Each of our peer network communities is coming together! On Monday afternoon, connect with and learn from your chapter peers. And on Tuesday and Wednesday, join gatherings of our caucuses and affinity groups based on personal and professional identities to network, learn, and share resources.

Pop-Up Roundtables
Join a pop-up roundtable on Tuesday afternoon for informal, focused discussion. You’ll have an opportunity to suggest table topics until Monday via the convening app, and topics will be announced on Tuesday.

User Groups
On Tuesday afternoon, some of our vendor partners—Foundant Technologies, GivingData, ImagineCRM, Resilia, Salesforce, and SmartSimple Software—will host user groups. These meetings are spaces for vendor partners to meet with current and prospective users, share highlights and upcoming releases related to their product or service, and facilitate a space for customers and users of the same product to build relationships with each other.

Idea Share: Grants Management Competencies
Throughout the convening, stop by and weigh in on the abilities needed to be an equitable, effective grants professional. Offer your perspective on PEAK’s Grants Management Professional Competency Model, and suggest additional skill sets PEAK should consider including in the next iteration of the Competency Model.

 Social Events

Welcoming Reception
Join us for a festive opening night reception at the Seattle Art Museum on Monday evening.

Volunteer Reception
PEAK is grateful to have a community of dedicated, engaging, and dynamic volunteers. On Tuesday evening, we invite these VIP changemakers to mix, mingle, and connect with longtime colleagues and meet new peers.

GM101 Reception
If you’re a Grants Management 101 participant or alum, we invite you to come together on Sunday evening. Prepare to make the most of the convening by reconnecting with colleagues, networking with past and present program participants, and meeting members of PEAK’s staff and board.

Newcomer Reception
Are you new to PEAK Grantmaking? Is this your first time at our annual convening? Join us for this welcoming event on Sunday evening to kick off your PEAK2024 experience. You’ll connect with other first-timers, learn more about PEAK, and meet members of our staff, board, and convening committee.

Dine-Arounds
Tuesday evening dine-arounds provide opportunities for networking, stimulating conversation, and shared learning experiences. Join colleagues for an informal group dinner at a nearby restaurant. Explore options and sign up through the app.

Board Alumni Breakfast
Join PEAK President and CEO Satonya Fair, Chief Operating Officer Dolores Estrada, Chair Emeritus Allison Gister, and your PEAK board alum peers for a gathering over breakfast to network with this special community. Celebrate another year of impact together and discuss ways that you as board alum can continue to be an activated change agent and lead within the PEAK community. This invitation-only event is for alums of the PEAK Grantmaking Board of Directors.

Speed Networking
During breakfast on Tuesday, join in the fun of speed networking, and get to know more of your PEAK colleagues. We’ll offer a final opportunity for speed networking on Wednesday morning.

Seattle Connections

Nonprofit-Led Movement Classes
On Monday afternoon, Quantum Martial Arts Seattle is leading two learning opportunities: a lively, fun-filled class learning the practical basics of personal empowerment and self defense, and a refreshing and invigorating Qigong class.

Nonprofit Volunteer Opportunities
On Wednesday morning, experience Washington from the vantage point of local nonprofits and support their work. We’re excited to partner with Mountains to Sound Greenway, which needs volunteers to help plant and pot native trees in the nursery, and with the Rainier Valley Food Bank, which needs volunteers to fill grocery bags and load carts. See the app for signup information.

Help the Unhoused
PEAK is partnering with a variety of Pacific Northwest nonprofits to help those experiencing homelessness this winter and beyond. Attendees can drop off new pairs of socks and unopened and unused travel-sized toiletries in the collection bins found in the Level 5 Elwha Ballroom and by the Level 5 Speaker and Exhibitor Registration and Help Desk. Thank you for joining our call to action.

We’ll have snacks, copies of our publications, and a selection of fun ribbons you can wear on your badge to celebrate and showcase your personality.
